The Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana Ch 1 has been a huge support to Gold Star Families in Louisiana. Janet Broussard the president is always striving to have those that have served honored. Every year they host an annual Gold Star Mother's Day banquet to honor the families of the fallen. They have always included all family members of the fallen. Ms. Janet is also very diligent in including siblings during ceremonies. This is something that hits home for me as I am a sibling. Sibling grief is often considered the disenfranchised grief and commonly not recognized by others. The Blue Star Mothers have given a place for Gold Star Families to come and be around their peers, while continuing to honor our service men and women.
